laser hair removal. We've assembled a list of the most commonly asked
questions to help you understand how laser hair removal works. Read Tria's
FAQs below to find out.
Where can the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X be used?
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X can be used on the underarms, bikini line, legs, arms, back, stomach and face (women's cheek line downward).
What is the battery life?
The Tria battery charges last about 30 minutes. This battery life allows users to stay focused and conscious of overlapping during treatment. A rule of thumb is that a single battery charge is enough to treat a bikini-line area or two underarms at the higher energy levels, or a much bigger area at the lower energy levels.*
*The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X has 5 comfort settings.
Is my skin tone suitable for using the Tria Laser 4X?
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X is intended for people with light to medium skin tones. Darker skin tones can absorb too much laser light which can injure the skin. The built-in skin sensor will determine if at-home laser hair removal is suitable for your skin tone.
Is my hair color suitable for using the Tria Laser 4X?
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X is designed to work on unwanted face and body hair that is naturally light brown to black in color. Because the Tria Laser 4X works with the dark pigment in the hair, lighter hair colors such as white, blond, red or gray will not absorb enough of the laser's energy to disable the hair follicle.
Why do I have to shave?
We recommend that you prepare your skin before each Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X treatment for best results.
Follow these steps:
1. Cleanse the treatment area thoroughly, removing all cosmetics,
lotions, and creams from the area you wish to treat. (This will allow
the laser treatment to easily penetrate the skin.)
2. Shave the treatment area thoroughly using a new razor. This allows
the laser treatment to be most effective because the laser works on the
hair inside the follicle, under the surface of the skin.
3. Wipe your skin with a cool, damp cloth to remove any shaving cream or soap, and then dry the area well.
Please note: Waxing and plucking are not advisable any time between
treatments because both remove hair from the follicle. The hair inside
the follicle needs to be present for Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X treatments
to be effective.
Can I do it more often than every 2 weeks?
Hair grows in cycles so not every hair can be treated at the same time. To be effective, the laser needs to reach each hair follicle during its growth cycle. For permanent results, treat the area once every week for at least 3 months—until the hair stops growing back.
How long does it take before I start seeing results?
In just two Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X treatments, you're on your way to permanent results.
When treating weekly for three months, you should expect the following results:
After your first treatment:
After your first month:
After 2-3 months of treatment:
After 3 months of treatment:
How to unlock the Tria?
Here's how to unlock the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X:
1. Unplug the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X from the battery charger.
2. Hold the device and press the power button to turn it on. The display window will show that it is locked.
3. The red light on the bottom of the device is the skin sensor. Hold it on the area you wish to treat to check your skin tone. The skin sensor will automatically sense and check your skin.
If it's intended for your skin tone in the area you want to treat, the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X will emit a ready tone and the lock indicator in the display window will disappear.
If the lock is still visible on the display window and you do not hear a series of beeps, then the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X may not be safe for your skin tone in that area. Verify that your skin tone in the area you wish to treat matches the intended tone on the Skin Tone + Hair Color Chart on page 2 of the Instructions for Use. You may be using the skin sensor incorrectly and need to try again. To try again, lift the skin sensor from your skin and follow the previous two steps. If you are still not able to unlock the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X, contact Customer Care at 1-877-321-8742.
Note: When the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X is not in use for approximately 3 minutes, the device will automatically turn off.
Can I share it?
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X is designed for personal use only. Sharing the device is not recommended for personal hygiene reasons.
Genital usage?
Do not use the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X on the nipples, genitals or around the anus. These areas may have more sensitive skin, a darker skin tone and/or a greater hair density and using the Tria Laser 4X in these areas may cause serious skin injury. You may use the Tria Laser 4X on your bikini line which is the pubic hair visible beyond the boundaries of a swimsuit.
Can I continue to tan?
Stay out of the sun before using Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X. The Laser is attracted to pigment in the skin; any darkening of the skin due to sun exposure can impact safety.
Is it still effective when I use a lower setting (1 or 2)?
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X is effective at all treatments levels.
The five settings are five different levels of intensity. Using a lower intensity means that the treatment will work slower, but may be more comfortable to some users.
We recommend that you start at a low treatment level (1 or 2) and then increase by one treatment level at a time until you've reached the highest treatment level comfortable to you. The higher the treatment level, the faster the results.

How many minutes per day do I need to treat myself with the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light?
Choose a treatment regimen that's most convenient for you. Either treat affected areas once a day for 5 minutes or split treatments, and use the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light for 2½ minutes in the morning and 2½ minutes at night. Choose whatever regimen is easiest for you.
Do I use the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light for 5 minutes on each area of the face?
Continuously and evenly glide the tip of the device over your face. You can treat your entire face for 5 minutes a day or concentrate on the areas that concern you the most for 5 minutes each.
What are those square patches for and do I need to use them with the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light?
The square patches are treatment guides. You can use the enclosed treatment guide squares to concentrate on affected areas. Or, for best results, use a painting method. Continuously and evenly glide the tip of the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light over your face.
If you choose to target your treatment with the treatment guides, apply them to the area of skin with pimples or pustules. The cut-out square in the middle of the guide is the treatment area. Then simply glide the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light over the treatment area like you are painting your face with the light.
Note: The guide is flexible so that you can bend it around a curved part of your face, like the chin or nose. Make sure that all four edges of the guide are on your skin and that there is skin everywhere in the treatment area. If you can’t use the guide properly on an area of skin, do not treat that area.
Warning: Do not put the treatment guide around any part of your eyes or eyelids. Treating your eyes or eyelids could cause serious eye injury, including blindness or temporary loss of vision.
Why does the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light need cartridges?
The Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light 2-Month cartridge supplies the device with 60 days or 300 minutes of treatment. The cartridge activates the Blue Light device, allowing it to deliver professional levels of therapeutic blue light deep into the skin. When the cartridge runs out of minutes, the display will signal that it's time for a new cartridge.
Can I use Benzoyl Peroxide when using the Blue Light?
You can use Benzoyl Peroxide with the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light but you may find you won't need it. The Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light works quickly and effectively by targeting acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin. It gently clears breakouts without harsh ingredients or harmful health effects and it has superior tolerability over leading acne treatments. The result is an elimination of blemished clogged pores, pimples and acne breakouts, and a bright, clear complexion.

How does the Skin Rejuvenating Laser compare to in-office treatments?
For years, dermatologists have been using laser treatments to diminish the visible signs of aging. Today, the Health Canada-approved, dermatologist-recommended Skin Rejuvenating Laser gives you the same professional anti-aging results of in-office laser treatments yet in the convenience of your own home. Using the same non-ablative fractional technology previously available only through dermatologists, the Skin Rejuvenating Laser stimulates your body’s own natural renewal process, regenerating cells and producing new collagen.
How does the Skin Rejuvenating Laser compare to the anti-aging products that I am already using?
The Skin Rejuvenating Laser uses the same non-ablative fractional laser technology previously available through dermatologists. Unlike topical products, the Skin Rejuvenating Laser emits microscopic columns of laser light to help stimulate new collagen and reduce pigmentation below the skin’s surface. By using the Skin Rejuvenating Laser several minutes a day, you can expect to see visible improvement in as few as 2 weeks.
When can I expect to first see results?
You should start to see visible results to the skin’s texture in as few as 2 weeks, followed by diminished discoloration and fewer lines and wrinkles occurring a few weeks after the full 8-week course of treatment.
How long should I use the Skin Rejuvenating Laser? When is the process fully complete?
You should use your Skin Rejuvenating Laser once per day for 8 weeks, followed by a 4-week hiatus to allow maximum cellular and collagen regeneration. After this 4-week period, you may begin another 8-week treatment cycle. Continue this pattern to maintain optimal anti-aging results.
Is the Skin Rejuvenating Laser effective for all skin types?
The Skin Rejuvenating Laser is intended for use on all skin tones. However, the device should not be used on skin that contains permanent makeup or is tattooed, infected, burned or cut. See Instructions for Use for full safety information.
Can I incorporate the Skin Rejuvenating Laser within my everyday beauty/anti-aging regimen and not use the Rejuvenating Laser Priming Cleanser and Rejuvenating Laser Finishing Serum? Will I see better results if using the Priming Cleanser and Finishing Serum?
Yes, although we recommend using the Rejuvenating Laser Priming Cleanser and the Rejuvenating Laser Finishing Serum to maximize the full benefits of your Skin Rejuvenating Laser. The Rejuvenating Laser Priming Cleanser preps your skin by removing makeup, sunscreen and other impurities that can interfere with the laser light. The Rejuvenating Laser Finishing Serum helps soothe any temporary redness or stinging that may occur with the treatment while also hydrating and brightening skin.
What are the possible side effects when using the Skin Rejuvenating Laser?
During treatments, you may feel mild discomfort such as a slight warming or prickling, which many users say feels like a sunburn. These are all normal side effects and generally subside within a few minutes or hours but may continue throughout treatment. They may diminish with continued use as the skin adapts to the treatment. The Rejuvenating Laser Finishing Serum can help minimize these side effects.
If I have no fine lines or age spots, can I expect the Skin Rejuvenating Laser to prevent signs of aging?
Yes, the Skin Rejuvenating Laser is clinically proven to promote smoother, more radiant skin. Using the same non-ablative fractional technology as the professionals, the Skin Rejuvenating Laser stimulates your body’s own natural renewal process, producing new collagen and regenerating healthy skin cells to promote a firmer, more radiant skin tone..
If I just saw my doctor for an anti-aging treatment, how long should I wait before using the Skin Rejuvenating Laser?
Consult a health care professional first before using the Skin Rejuvenating Laser. In all cases, wait until the redness and swelling have dissipated. Do not treat if your skin is significantly red or swollen from a previous treatment.
Is there anyone who should not use the Skin Rejuvenating Laser?
Do not use if you are under the age of 18, and do not allow children to play with or use this device. Consult a health care professional first if you are pregnant or undergoing professional cosmetic treatments, such as a skin peel, laser resurfacing or filler injections. Also consult a health care professional if you have a significant medical skin condition, your skin is unusually sensitive, your skin easily develops a rash or allergic reaction or if you are taking a medicine, such as a steroid. The Skin Rejuvenating Laser should also not be used on skin that contains permanent makeup or is tattooed, infected, burned or cut.
